<dcterms:description><![CDATA[A spiral-bound reproduction of a World War II-era scrapbook featuring newspaper clippings related to local people who served and their families, and covers approximately 1942-1945. The first page is an article from 2000 about the purchase of the original scrapbook by Tyke Papadopoulos from an antiques dealer in Ludlow. The original scrapbook was 122 pages, and featured 674 area residents who served in the military. The original was "procured" by Edwin Pajak for the Chicopee Historical Society. The copy here features an added index of names mentioned, with a note that it was reprinted in February 2000; this copy is approximately 136 leaves, all in black & white. The pages in this copy are hand-numbered, and most of the articles have at least a year, and sometimes a full date. CONTENT WARNING: This book features some derogatory language referring to Japanese people that is used throughout. [Achivist note: Every page was reproduced single-sided, with the reverse sides blank; in an effort to keep the file size down, only the printed sides have been reproduced here with the exception of the insides of the covers.
