Then remained ill the discharge, or muster out, of the members of the Reg. by special orders War Department, on account of the cessation of active hostilities because of the general surrender of the rebel forces. He was mustered out with his comrade on the 5 May, and at once returned to Chicopee. The Reg. numbered at that date of discharge 462 men.
