    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Melzar H. Mosman<br />
Born in Chicopee, Mass._Son of Silas Mosman,_by occupation a Draughtsman,_Unmarried,_at the age of 19 enlisted for nine months in the 46th Regiment of Infantry,_Company D.<br />
Mustered into service September 25, 1862.<br />
He took part in all the duties and movements of the company while in North Carolina_Goldsboro Expedition, Trent Road reconnoissances, at Plymouth, and Gum Swamp affair.<br />
While at Plymouth, N.C. he was detailed for special duty as Clerk in the Post Adjutant’s department, and served in that capacity about two months.<br />
On arrival of the regiment at Baltimore, he was taken sick, and carried to the hospital.  But after remaining there a few hours, he was kindly cared for by some friends in the city, who conveyed him to their home.<br />
Returned with the sick and convalescents, via Boston, arriving in Chicopee, July 22nd.<br />
Mustered out of service July 29, 1863, at Springfield, Mass.<br />
