Description

A certificate of recognition given to Edmund F. Ukleja from the city of Chicopee for his service. The certificate reads "City of Chicopee. Recogniton of patriotic service is hereby given to Edmund F. Ukleja by the people of Chicopee as a symbol of their gratidude for his his loyalty and patriotism in the service of the armed forces of the United States of America in World War II For the Cause of Freedom." The certificate is signed by Chicopee mayor Leo P. Senecal (who was mayor from January 1 1940 - January 3 1944), suggesting that the undated certificate was awarded during this time. The certificate is decorated with blue ink for the illustrated letter of the R for Recognition, a US flag seal with the words Liberty, Democracy, and Justice in a ribbon above, and a stamped seal of Chicopee. Technically not a page, the certificate is affixed to the back of the front cover.
