A group of four young men are running towards the camera in the middle of this image in pairs as a group of mostly men (although some women and children are in the background) look on, some of whom are holding glass bottles. Of the four men, the first (left) and third are wearing white naval hats, as are some of the onlookers. The two men have bands tied around their legs, suggesting that this is a three-legged race. On the back of the photo, the number 593 is stamped in ink.
