Description

The image shows a section of a battlefield, covered on one side with bushes. Two dead soldiers are in the foreground of the image, with a gun still constructed in front of them. Behind them, in the middleground, stands another soldier looking at the corpses in a posture suggesting exhaustion or defeat, holding what appears to be either a gun or a sword. There are other casualties behind him, and in the brush to his right. 53 is printed in black ink on the back of the photograph.
