Title

Mosque

Subject

World War, 1939-1945--Foreign service; Trinidad--photographs

Description

The image is of a grand white building, with a fence, and with several onion-shaped domes on towers (presumably minarets) seen rising above the rest of the structure. There is what appears to be a house to the right of the centered building, with palm trees and grass seen along the street out front. There appear to be telephone wires seen faintly against the sky near the top of the image. On the bottom margin of the image, in pen, is "An Indian Mosque." Written in pencil, in cursive, on the center back of the photo is "An Indian Mosque." Due to the long history of colonization and slavery in Trinidad, Islam became a minority religion as it was brought over by enslaved Africans.

Abstract
