The text of the clipping reads, "In addition, time was lost at all stops while the plane was tested for water-handling and landing and take-off qualities in restricted areas.The Mars carried a crew of 16 commanded by Lieut. Comdr. William E. Coney. His first and second pilots were Lieuts. Joseph A. Baker and Kenneth W. Winsor. Lieut. (j.g.) Leon Shloss, USNR, of Washington, was security and liaison officer. The plane's four Wright Cyclone engines deliver 2200 horse power each. It has a wing-span of 200 feet. The two-deck hull, which is 117 feet long, has the capacity of a 15-room house. It was built by the Glenn L. Martin Co. of Baltimore and accepted by the Navy on a few days before its historic flight."
