The left photo is labeled, "The Old Order and the New," and shows Japanese men in military dress sitting around a table outside with American military men standing over them. The right photo is labeled at the bottom, "Getting Set for the 'Big Ride'" and shows a group of U.S. servicemen holding a rope that is attached to some sort of pulley.
