Description

This is a continuation of the previous two clippings and shows three photos. The top left photo is labeled "The Marine Detachment" and shows a group of soldiers standing outside on a pavillion with a building in the background. The bottom left photo is labeled, "Pictured are the radiomen who were responsible for 'bringing in the news' during our tour at sea" and shows a group of Navy men sitting and standing outside on what appears to be the deck of a ship. The top right side of the clipping has the caption "The Marine Detachment of CV-31 represented this ship as part of the Third Fleet unit which made the preliminary landings in Japan. The account of their expedition begins in today's Alert and will coninue for several installments." Below this is a picture that is labeled, "Officers of the Communications Department" and shows a group of twelve men in Naval uniforms crouching or standing in two lines on the deck of a ship with a body of water in the background.
