Gremio Lusitano Club Float
Title
Gremio Lusitano Club Float
Subject
Parades--Ludlow (Mass.)
Description
The image shows what appears to be a parade walking down the street. The image is a close-up of a parade float behind a bunch of people walking, in uniform, in the parade. The float is decorated to celebrate Ludlow's Anniversary and is attributed to the Gremio Lusitano club, which is a social club devoted to maintaining and celebrating Portuguese culture (founded in 1922 in Ludlow, MA). The float has a flower arch over the two women standing on top and the two children sitting off the end. The girl and women are dressed in long dresses, and the boy is dressed in a suit. Across the arch are the numbers "1949," and there is a sign reading, "175 Happy Anniversary." The sign on the back of the float, between the two children, reads, "Gremio Lusitaino Women's Club Ludlow Mass." Spectators stand on the left of the street, under a tree. 227 is printed in blue ink on the back of the photograph.
