Polish Float
Title
Polish Float
Subject
Parades--Ludlow (Mass.)
Description
The image is a close-up of a parade float outside on a street. The front of the float has text that is partially cut off, but it reads, "Congratulations Ludlow's 175," likely referring to the 175th anniversary of the town's incorporation in 1774. The side of the float has text that is partially cut off, but the word "Polish" can be made out. On top of the float is a sign that reads "175 Years of Progress," and signs towards the back are partially obscured by figures, but read "Religion," "Civ--" and "--tion" (Perhaps referring to "civilization" or "civic participation"). There are several people on the float. One young boy holds an American flag up. A woman is sitting in old-fashioned clothes. A young man holds another flag, partially obstructed but with the word "Marszalka--" (meaning marshall) shown on it. The young man is wearing a white robe with a dark sash tied around his waist. Three figures sit on a bench towards the back of the float, only one viewable (a woman wearing what looks like a nurse's uniform. 227 is printed in blue ink on the back of the photograph.
