Join us for an evening of Poetry and the Spoken Wo Join us for an evening of Poetry and the Spoken Word. Signups for participation begin at 6:30pm; open mic begins at 7pm with the featured poet to follow.  The guest poet for May is Sarah Browning. She is the author of Call Me Yes (forthcoming, 2026), Killing Summer (Sibling Rivalry), and Whiskey in the Garden of Eden (The Word Works). Co-curator/co-host of Wild Indigo Poetry, she teaches with Writers in Progress and coaches writers one-on-one. Co-founder and 10-year director of Split This Rock, Browning now lives in Philadelphia. This program is supported by the Chicopee Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the MA Cultural council, a state agency.

Dennis Picard will present a Living History Progra Dennis Picard will present a Living History Program, 'The Hessians in the American Revolution' at the Chicopee Public Library on Wednesday, April 15 from 6:30-8pm.  Learn about what drove Hessian troops to fight patriots in Western Massachusetts and why some of them settled here after the war. This program is brought to you by the Chicopee Historical Society. It is open to the public and all are welcome!

Register for our New England Art Mosaic Library Pr Register for our New England Art Mosaic Library Program on Thursday, April 16 5:30—8:00 PM:https://chicopeepubliclibrary.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/new-england-art-mosaic-library-program/The New England Art Mosaic helps Support Scholarships for Pioneer Valley Students pursuing Art. Attend our in-library program on April 16th or sign-out a Canvas to take home! 2026 Theme: “New England Treasures”Sponsored by the Agawam Community Artists and Artisans, this community-wide project invites participants from high school age and older to create a 6” x 6” canvas that will become part of a stunning 24-foot collaborative Mosaic. Each donated piece will be sold to benefit scholarships for art students in the Pioneer Valley.The library is currently distributing 6"x6" canvases to teens & adults who would like to participate. Sign-out a canvas from the Reference Desk and create a piece of artwork. Canvases are currently available at the Reference Desk and must be returned to the library by May 15th. Details and guidelines are included with each canvas.Canvases will be sold with net profits going to fund scholarships for high school and college students pursuing Visual Arts. Apply for the Gloria McLellan Scholarship at www.agawamarts.com.
