Description
The clipping has the title "In Italy Action" at the top with an image of a headshot of a man in military uniform below it. Below that is the caption "John S. Strycharz," with the text below: "Chicopee, Aug 8 --Pvt John S. Strycharz, 21, son of Mrs. Pauline Kowal of 56 Wilson avenue, is now servin [sic] in the infantry in Italy. He entered service January 4, 1944, and received 17 weeks basic training in heavy weapons at Camp Blanding, Fla. He spent a 10-day furlough at home before going overseas. He was graduated from Chicopee Trade school and was employed as a toolmaker at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft plant at East Hartford. In a letter home recently he spoke of meeting Lieut-Col Andrew Nowak, brother of Atty Jo-seph Nowack of this city."
